Under the Bed – missed the goal

We sent this to our supporters a little while ago, but thought this was a good read for everyone:

Thanks for supporting Under the Bed.

The sad news is, we did not raise the funds through our crowd funding effort. As it was an all or nothing campaign, that means your pledge has not been paid to us.

So hold on to your pennies, we’ll be trying again soon.

As the good news –
Although it would be great to say “Yes we are going ahead” this effort did get some very tangible results:
– We discovered some grants that will be available in March.
– Under the Bed got some good media coverage.
– Added to the awareness of domestic violence and its negatives.
– Got some very good people to show support (you). And,
– Learned some things or two.

Just over 50% of crowdfunding projects don’t get there. So this was a learning experience for us, what to expect and how much work is involved (a lot).

At the time of launch we had budgeted the whole production, and hoped that we would be able to raise those funds on Pozible. Screen Australia can be very competitive, but it is not the only grant provider, far from it actually.

So having discovered the options available in March, I think we can be more confident in the next attempt, to raise shoot costs alone, and then draw upon those grants for music, post production and animation (where the costs add up).

We’ll go over the budget again, and look at what we can do to get the support on board. It will be an exciting journey, and we hope you’ll be very much a part of it.

Our facebook page www.facebook.com/unbed will detail your invitation to this too.

So yeah, hold onto those pennies, as we will be moving ahead full steam in not much time at all.

Thanks for the support, and stay tuned 🙂
